Transitioning to a new area

Two weeks ago...

When I left Bullard it felt like leaving home and I got back to the city and I just felt so homesick for East Texas.
My companion is from Tuilla, Utah and he has been in the area for about three months. Luckily we have a car that makes it nice. We did lots of trying to stop by less actives and clean up the ward lists. my companion is cool so that helps but I just feel like I can't connect to these people. The people in east Texas were much easier to talk to. It will just take a little time.

1 week later. What a difference a week and a good attitude have!

Dear family, this was a good week. We found two new investigators to teach. Justin... he has been divorced for about eight years and has a son. He was flying back from salt lake and a guy from Idaho talked to him about the gospel. He is super interested. He loves how the church is so family oriented. He is awesome! We have had a good week with lots of teaching. I am starting to know a few members of the ward.
On Saturday we did service for an older couple in the ward. We planted their garden. It felt so good to get my hands dirty! There was a big rain storm. Today it is nice and sunny. I think we will play a little basketball.
That is a great idea to have the missionaries come to primary. We did that in Coppell and it seemed to work. I will have to try it in this area. We get fed super good here. One older couple has us over on Mondays and Thursdays. I don't know if I told you but while  in east Texas I was kind of addicted to Dr Pepper. It is a Texas thing. Since I have been in this area I have cut soda completely out of my diet. But yesterday a member gave us a two litter of Dr Pepper and I drank a glass. It made me sick! My stomach was killing me. I feel good today but I don't think I can ever drink soda again. That is OK though, I need to loose some weight. Now is all I drink is water and milk.
That is so cool y'all trimmed trees. Save the limbs in cousins camp and when I get home we can have a massive bonfire! hahaha
That is great your going to do some fence, what kind is Dad going to build? Hopefully Gus will stay in. I bet he loved running out in the pasture. I love y'all so much and I know there are people here in McKinney that I need to find and bring to the gospel, it will just be a little trial.

Love Elder Kershaw
