Mother's Day phone call

We talked to Elder Kershaw for about an hour on Mother's Day. It was so cool to be able to Skype with him. It felt like he was right there in the family room talking to us.

He is doing so good. He is happy in Coppell and is grateful to be able to stay there with his companion for another transfer. (6 weeks) He said they get along so good and work well together. Jonathan said he is a fun guy to work with and he reminds him of his cousin Jared.
He and Elder Rowland either bike or walk to where they need to go and he has holes in his shoes already. For one of their service days they helped a man that has a shoe store pack up shoes to send to other countries for those who do not have shoes. Jonathan said he likes p-day because he gets to wear wranglers.  Also on p-day there are several sets of missionaries that get together and play basketball at the church. He really enjoys that.
They do some street contacts and door to door visits but they have yet to prove worthwhile. There are a lot of people that get into Bible bashing with he elders.   Jonathan said he is studying daily the Bible and Book of Mormon. He enjoys all the time he has to learn about the Savior.  He testified to us that the Bible is true and the Book of Mormon is another witness of the life and mission of Jesus Christ. He encouraged us all to read it and find out for ourselves the truthfulness of it.

A day in the life of Elder Kershaw goes something like this: Up at 6:30, read and study for 2 hours. Exercise, then eat breakfast and get ready for the day. Go out until lunch looking for people to teach. Go out again after lunch and then dinner is usually at a member's house.

He said they are working with some wonderful people, one man in particular who wants to baptized. He is just praying to find out for himself that President Monson is a prophet of God. Jonathan said it is so important for people to come to their own testimony of these things in the church.

He shared his testimony with us of his love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and how important it is in his life. He encouraged us to read the Book of Mormon and stay close to the Savior.  He said I am giving up 2 years of my life so that others can have an eternity of blessings. He loves what he is doing and knows it is where he should be right now.  It was a wonderful day!

The Front of his name tag...  Elder Kershaw

He is still an Idaho farm boy at heart!
